Triumph International Japan has unveiled a bra that can be used as a shopping bag. It is called the “No! Shopping Bag Bra” (NO! reji-bukuro bra). It is designed for reduction of plastic bag consumption. Read more…

They said that each year, Japanese shoppers receive an estimated 30 billion plastic shopping bags and about 30% of these bags are thrown away without being reused. The consumption of plastic shopping bags making up environmental problems like increased energy usage, trash buildup, and global warming due to CO2 released in the garbage incineration process, there are urgent calls to reduce their usage. So, this shopping bag bra is being worn, the “shopping bag” portions are folded away inside the bra cups where they serve as extra padding. The bra can be quickly transformed into a shopping bag by just removed the bag portions from the cups and connecting the hooks on the bra’s underwire. This Shopping Bag Bra is available in red, blue, green, yellow and pink color and it is made of Teijin Group’s ECOPET brand of polyester fiber (from the recycled plastic bottles)

    I dont think having a volunteer group engaged in independent fundraising activities is anything particularly new, most orchestras have volunteer auxiliary groups who have considerable success with fundraisers. In the case of the Friends group in Jacksonville it is unusual to see a group come into existence as the direct result of a labor stoppage. As for the coordination between fundraising activities and responsibilities, only time will tell. Certainly, no one in any of the stakeholder groups has any definitive idea as to how these relationships will evolve. I don’t know if the JSA has had much experience with auxiliary fundraising groups but if not, then the relationships will probably take a little longer to work out.
