Spectasia is a direct manipulation interface designed to operate with a PC, a mouse and a 2-D computer monitor. It has a 3D user interface (UI) which organizes your desktop into a series of information galleries. Spectasia presents the user with a series of information galleries, each consisting of a number of visual objects which allow the user to select program icons by moving the mouse over an icon, then clicking once, whereupon that item will be “run”.
Navigating up and down levels with Spectasia is simple and easy. The user moves down a level by left clicking the mouse over a parent level icon whereupon the contents of that level are smoothly animated into view and to move back up a level the user simply right-clicks the mouse (anywhere on the screen) where the parent levels contents are animated into view. To scroll (ie in a left-right direction) new regions of a level into view the user simply clicks on one of the navigation cursor “arrows”, whereupon the entire view animates in the desired direction. There’s also a customizations for it, like importing icons, and setting up your own links and more.
