Sony’s Walkman NW-A3000 and NW-A1000

May 23rd, 2006

Sony had just announced a Walkman player, the NW-A3000 (20GB) and NW-A1000 (6GB). There are two special functions which is shuffle and “Time Machine Shuffle” (TMS). The TMS function randomly selects a year and plays all the songs from that particular year. More info after the jump.

It features an OLED display which is 2-inch on 20GB version and 1.5-inch on 6GB model. The player supports Sonys ATRAC3plus (up to 256Kbit/s) as well as MP3 and DRM WMA (no WAV, OGG or AAC support), but it cant playback video on its display. Nevertheless this is one of the best HDD-based portable digital audio players on the market.

It also ships with Sonys latest ‘CONNECT Player software, which replaces SonicStage and offers relatively advanced music library management as well as providing access to the CONNECT catalogue of more than 1 million tracks and albums available for download.

It is now available for international sale at the reasonable price of USD196 for 20GB model and slightly cheaper for 6GB model.
