Skype’s #1 Country: China — Where It’s Banned

Skype has more registered users in China — a whopping 13 million — than any other country (the U.S. has half as many). However, SkypeOut, which is a Skype service that enables Skype users to call regular telephones, is banned by the communist government (at least until 2008).
Unfortunately, the inevitable CRACKDOWN is already in the works. The government is working on software that can detect and block SkypOut calls, and is already scanning every Skype text message and blocking messages that contain certain keywords.
