Nick Dawkins has made an interesting spinning LED device. As it spins it can display the time and a picture of the globe. He uses 19 LEDs and a 24V motor for the main drive. To be easy, he uses a battery to power the PCB and LEDs. Check out his website, he will update the site with full built instruction and make the final source code free to download.
